"Poke" Nourish Bowl

It’s as good as it looks!

My favorite foods to make are often times just bowls that have a mixture of healthy foods and a delicious sauce to top! This recipe was inspired by @pickuplimes . I use her sauce recipe which gives this a “poke bowl” flavor.

I love that I can eat a massive bowl of food without feeling like I just ate a heavy meal. And the combinations are endless. Just toss together your favorite veggies and you’ve got yourself a "healthy" meal!!

For the sauce:

  • 2 tsp soy sauce (light sodium)

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

  • 2 tsp agave syrup

  • Juice from 1/2 a lime

  • Mix up and use to top the bowl!

Tip: you might want to double this recipe. My boyfriend and I LOVED this sauce mix.

For the bowl:

  • Spinach leaves

  • Brown rice

  • Sweet potato slices

  • Red/yellow bell pepper

  • 1/2 avocado

  • Teriyaki Sautéed mushrooms

  • 1/4 Cucumber

  • Red onion

  • Green onion

  • Veggie crumbles (for the vegans out there)

  • Sashimi &/or a fried egg (for those that want to add a type of meat)

  • Wasabi sauce (optional)

Any and all of this is optional. Mix and match your favorite veggies to make it your own!


Start the rice first, as it is what will take the longest. I use a rice cooker and I add a dash of salt, soy sauce, and garlic powder.

Chop the mushrooms (I used baby Bella mushrooms) and sauté. Mix in teriyaki sauce for the last 2 minutes

Chop bell peppers and sweet potatoes, bake on 450 degrees for around 30 min or until the sweet potatoes are soft.

Finely chop red onion and green onion- set aside

Slice avocado - set aside

Finely chop cucumber - set aside

Finally, you should have all your ingredients ready to assemble. Put the bowl together however you want. I always like to section it out so it’s pretty for a quick pic, then I drizzle my wasabi sauce and the sauce I made to go with, on top! I always end up mixing it all together but I just love how it looks. It makes me appreciate the meal a bit more when I can see all the colors and nutrients come together.

Try this bowl ASAP! You will be wondering how your mouth went so long without satisfying this flavor itch! This will probably be a staple in my house.
